The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards nominees are OUT
Nothing gives a nation more hope and pride than when local talent gets recognised on the international stage. So excuse us while we gush over SAMA award-winning sensation Sho Madjozi being nominateed for – not one, but – two Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards
The Limpopo-born singer/songwriter will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa in the Global Music Star category and is also one of four prominent African performing artists nominated to represent the continent in the Favourite African Star category, which also includes Durban-based pop and R&B artist Shekhinah.
Two South African artists have been nominated to represent Africa in the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Favourite African Star category, including rapper Sho Madjozi and singer-songwriter Shekhinah.
Moreover, with the rise of reputable social media and content creators across Africa, Pretoria-based socialite Chané Grobler and South Africa-born YouTuber Prev Reddy are both nominated in the Favourite African Social Media Star category.
So why should we care about the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards? Well, it’s the same epic celebration of kids’ favourite stars that we came to appreciate when we were young. Think back, guys. But now, instead of Heidi Klum and a doe-eyed Miley Cyrus being slimed for their efforts, young people from our small dorpie – in the southern-most tip of the world – are being recognised for their achievements across all forms of entertainment, including film, television, music, sports and more. That, friends, is something to be proud of.
